FAQ
Manuscript Submission Questions
Q. Is there a fee for submitting an article for consideration of publication?
A. No, there are no fees for submitting an article for consideration of publication. However the following optional services are offered for a fee:
- Expedited Manuscript Service (EMS) – allows for accelerated peer review and accelerated print publication and epublication (incorporates FastTrack)
- FastTrack – allows epublication before print for AAP
- Open Access – allows free online access by all Internet users for AAP
Q. If my paper is accepted for publication, will I be charged any fees for publication?
A. No. The only fees that may be incurred involve color figures. If your paper includes color figures and you want to have the figure(s) printed in color, a flat charge of $800 is passed on to the author to cover the high cost of color printing (regardless of the number of color figures included). Please note that this is not mandatory. If your paper includes color figures and you wish to have them printed in black and white, there is no charge. Please make your preference known (in your cover letter) when submitting your manuscript. Also, if your accepted paper includes color figures, the online version of the paper will display the figures in color (without a fee) even if you elect to have them printed in black and white.
Q. Are the journals peer-reviewed?
A. Yes. Allergy & Asthma Proceedings, Journal of Precision Respiratory Medicine and Journal of Food Allergy are all peer-reviewed journals.
Q. I have co-authors listed on my manuscript, will the website allow me to insert their names on the manuscript data / information submission page?
A. All authors, corresponding and co-authors, should be listed on the title page of your manuscript, including affiliations and degrees. All co-authors’ information is necessary for online submission. There is a section on the online form to include all contributing authors information. The editors know to look to the title page for a complete listing of contributing authors.
Q. Where do I get the Conflict of Interest and Copyright Forms, and where do I submit them once complete?
A. All required publishing forms can be found on the respective websites:
Once each author has completed the appropriate forms, they may be scanned and emailed [email protected], faxed to (401) 331-0223, or sent via postal mail to :
OceanSide Publications, c/o Editorial Office, 450 Veteran Memorial Parkway, Bldg. 15, East Providence, RI 02914 U.S. In the event you are unable to download them from the above source, please contact the editorial offices and we will email them to you.
Q. I am trying to log on to the submission site, but have lost or forgotten my password, can you resend it to me?
A. The publication office does not have access to passwords, however if you go to the home page, left click “unknown/forgotten password”, enter either your logon name or your first and last name and click “mail it”, an automated email will immediately be sent to you with your logon name and a temporary password. If your email address has changed, please contact the publication office at 401-331-2510, or email [email protected].
Q. If my paper is accepted for publication, how long before I receive page proofs and when will my paper appear in print?
A. Once a paper is accepted, there is currently a normal wait time of 4 months for a paper to appear in print. Two options described above may accelerate the publication of accepted manuscripts (FastTrack & Expedited Manuscript Service). Once your manuscript has been assigned to an issue, the corresponding author will receive page proofs for minor author corrections via email directly from Cadmus (our printer) 4-6 weeks after acceptance.
Q. What are highlighted changes?
A. All revisions require a rebuttal letter (uploaded as a separate rebuttal file), which includes responses to the reviewer comments, and outlines any changes made to the original manuscript. These changes need to be highlighted or redlined by the author for the ease of re-review. A revised article may be sent back to an author if these two requirements are not met in the resubmission stage of a revision.
Q. Can I send my paper to the publication office instead of submitting electronically?
A. Although the preferred method of submission is electronic, the editorial office can assist in the uploading of files if requested. If you are unable to access the author submission site or are having trouble uploading your files, please contact the editorial offices at 401-331-2510 or fax 401-331-0223 or email at [email protected].
Q. When submitting a manuscript, can I put my article, figures and tables all in one file?
A. The article should be uploaded separately as an article file, and the figures and tables should also be uploaded as separate files. During the submission process, the corresponding author will have opportunity to merge the files into a merged pdf. Please note that the submission is not complete until the corresponding author has approved the converted, merged pdf file, and all publishing forms have been submitted.
Q. What type of figures files are acceptable?
A. Acceptable figure files include: TIFF, GIF, JPG, PDF, PPT, Postscript, or EPS format.
